雅各書 4:14
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
其實明天如何,你們還不知道。你們的生命是什麼呢?你們原來是一片雲霧,出現少時就不見了。

What do people gain from all their labors at which they toil under the sun?
傳道者說:虛空的虛空,虛空的虛空,凡事都是虛空。
人一切的勞碌,就是他在日光之下的勞碌,有什麼益處呢?
傳道書 1:14
I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
我見日光之下所做的一切事,都是虛空,都是捕風。
馬太福音 16:26
What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
人若賺得全世界,賠上自己的生命,有什麼益處呢?人還能拿什麼換生命呢?
傳道書 6:12
For who knows what is good for a person in life, during the few and meaningless days they pass through like a shadow? Who can tell them what will happen under the sun after they are gone?
人一生虛度的日子,就如影兒經過,誰知道什麼與他有益呢?誰能告訴他身後在日光之下有什麼事呢?
詩篇 49:17
for they will take nothing with them when they die, their splendor will not descend with them.
因為,他死的時候什麼也不能帶去;他的榮耀不能隨他下去。

All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing.
What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
萬事令人厭煩(或作:萬物滿有困乏),人不能說盡。眼看,看不飽;耳聽,聽不足。
已有的事後必再有;已行的事後必再行。日光之下並無新事。
傳道書 2:22
What do people get for all the toil and anxious striving with which they labor under the sun?
人在日光之下勞碌累心,在他一切的勞碌上得著什麼呢?
詩篇 103:15

My days are like the evening shadow; I wither away like grass.

When you rebuke and discipline anyone for their sin, you consume their wealth like a moth- surely everyone is but a breath.

富足的降卑,也該如此;因為他必要過去,如同草上的花一樣。
