詩篇 49:6

those who trust in their wealth and boast of their great riches?
No one can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for them-
the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough-
so that they should live on forever and not see decay.
那些倚仗財貨自誇錢財多的人，
一個也無法贖自己的弟兄，也不能替他將贖價給神，
叫他長遠活著，不見朽壞；因為贖他生命的價值極貴，只可永遠罷休。
以賽亞書 40:6

A voice says, "Cry out." And I said, "What shall I cry?" "All people are like grass, and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field.
The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them. Surely the people are grass.
有人聲說：你喊叫吧！有一個說：我喊叫什麼呢？說：凡有血氣的盡都如草；他的美容都像野地的花。
草必枯乾，花必凋殘，因為耶和華的氣吹在其上；百姓誠然是草。
詩篇 39:11
When you rebuke and discipline anyone for their sin, you consume their wealth like a moth- surely everyone is but a breath.
你因人的罪惡懲罰他的時候，叫他的笑容消滅，（的笑容：或作所喜愛的）如衣被蟲所咬。世人真是虛幻！（細拉）
詩篇 49:17
for they will take nothing with them when they die, their splendor will not descend with them.
因為，他死的時候什麼也不能帶去；他的榮耀不能隨他下去。
詩篇 90:5
Yet you sweep people away in the sleep of death- they are like the new grass of the morning:
你叫他們如水沖去；他們如睡一覺。早晨，他們如生長的草，
哥林多前書 15:19
If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.
我們若靠基督，只在今生有指望，就算比眾人更可憐。
詩篇 17:14
By your hand save me from such people, Lord, from those of this world whose reward is in this life. May what you have stored up for the wicked fill their bellies; may their children gorge themselves on it, and may there be leftovers for their little ones.
耶和華啊，求你用手救我脫離世人，脫離那只在今生有福分的世人！你把你的財寶充滿他們的肚腹；他們因有兒女就心滿意足，將其餘的財物留給他們的嬰孩。
詩篇 90:3
You turn people back to dust, saying, "Return to dust, you mortals."
你使人歸於塵土，說：你們世人要歸回。
