創世記 42:36
Their father Jacob said to them, "You have deprived me of my children. Joseph is no more and Simeon is no more, and now you want to take Benjamin. Everything is against me!"

At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship
and said: "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised."
約伯便起來，撕裂外袍，剃了頭，伏在地上下拜，
說：「我赤身出於母胎，也必赤身歸回；賞賜的是耶和華，收取的也是耶和華。耶和華的名是應當稱頌的。」
以西結書 24:15

The word of the Lord came to me:
"Son of man, with one blow I am about to take away from you the delight of your eyes. Yet do not lament or weep or shed any tears.
Groan quietly; do not mourn for the dead. Keep your turban fastened and your sandals on your feet; do not cover your mustache and beard or eat the customary food of mourners."
So I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. The next morning I did as I had been commanded.
耶和華的話又臨到我說：
「人子啊，我要將你眼目所喜愛的忽然取去，你卻不可悲哀哭泣，也不可流淚，
只可歎息，不可出聲，不可辦理喪事；頭上仍勒裹頭巾，腳上仍穿鞋，不可蒙著嘴唇，也不可吃弔喪的食物。」
於是我將這事早晨告訴百姓，晚上我的妻就死了。次日早晨我便遵命而行。
約伯記 13:15
Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face.
他必殺我；我雖無指望，然而我在他面前還要辯明我所行的。

"Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied.
"Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.
But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face."
撒但回答耶和華說：「約伯敬畏神，豈是無故呢？
你豈不是四面圈上籬笆圍護他和他的家，並他一切所有的嗎？他手所做的都蒙你賜福；他的家產也在地上增多。
你且伸手毀他一切所有的；他必當面棄掉你。」
