So he got up and went to his father. "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
"The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'
"But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.
Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate.
For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate.
於是起來，往他父親那裡去。相離還遠，他父親看見，就動了慈心，跑去抱著他的頸項，連連與他親嘴。
兒子說：『父親！我得罪了天，又得罪了你；從今以後，我不配稱為你的兒子。』
父親卻吩咐僕人說：『把那上好的袍子快拿出來給他穿；把戒指戴在他指頭上；把鞋穿在他腳上；
把那肥牛犢牽來宰了，我們可以吃喝快樂；
因為我這個兒子是死而復活，失而又得的。』他們就快樂起來。
路加福音 14:26
"If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters-yes, even their own life-such a person cannot be my disciple.
「人到我這裡來，若不愛我勝過愛（愛我勝過愛：原文作恨）自己的父母、妻子、兒女、弟兄、姐妹，和自己的性命，就不能作我的門徒。
提摩太前書 5:8
Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
人若不看顧親屬，就是背了真道，比不信的人還不好，不看顧自己家裡的人，更是如此。
創世記 18:19
For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him."
我眷顧他，為要叫他吩咐他的眾子和他的眷屬遵守我的道，秉公行義，使我所應許亞伯拉罕的話都成就了。」
約書亞記 24:15
But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."
若是你們以事奉耶和華為不好，今日就可以選擇所要事奉的：是你們列祖在大河那邊所事奉的神呢？是你們所住這地的亞摩利人的神呢？至於我和我家，我們必定事奉耶和華。」
詩篇 68:5

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.
God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
神在他的聖所作孤兒的父，作寡婦的伸冤者。
神叫孤獨的有家，使被囚的出來享福；惟有悖逆的住在乾燥之地。
箴言 4:1

Listen, my sons, to a father's instruction; pay attention and gain understanding.
I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching.
For I too was a son to my father, still tender, and cherished by my mother.
Then he taught me, and he said to me, "Take hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands, and you will live.
Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them.
Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.
The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.
Cherish her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you.
She will give you a garland to grace your head and present you with a glorious crown."
眾子啊，要聽父親的教訓，留心得知聰明。
因我所給你們的是好教訓；不可離棄我的法則（或作：指教）。
我在父親面前為孝子，在母親眼中為獨一的嬌兒。
父親教訓我說：你心要存記我的言語，遵守我的命令，便得存活。
要得智慧，要得聰明，不可忘記，也不可偏離我口中的言語。
不可離棄智慧，智慧就護衛你；要愛他，他就保守你。
智慧為首；所以，要得智慧。在你一切所得之內必得聰明（或作：用你一切所得的去換聰明）。
高舉智慧，他就使你高陞；懷抱智慧，他就使你尊榮。
他必將華冠加在你頭上，把榮冕交給你。
詩篇 78:5

He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors to teach their children,
so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children.
Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.
They would not be like their ancestors- a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to him.
因為，他在雅各中立法度，在以色列中設律法；是他吩咐我們祖宗要傳給子孫的，
使將要生的後代子孫可以曉得；他們也要起來告訴他們的子孫，
好叫他們仰望神，不忘記神的作為，惟要守他的命令。
不要像他們的祖宗，是頑梗悖逆、居心不正之輩，向著神，心不誠實。
箴言 3:11

My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline, and do not resent his rebuke,
because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.
我兒，你不可輕看耶和華的管教（或作：懲治），也不可厭煩他的責備；
因為耶和華所愛的，他必責備，正如父親責備所喜愛的兒子。
提摩太前書 3:8

In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain.
They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience.
They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.
In the same way, the women are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.
A deacon must be faithful to his wife and must manage his children and his household well.
Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.
作執事的，也是如此：必須端莊，不一口兩舌，不好喝酒，不貪不義之財；
要存清潔的良心，固守真道的奧秘。
這等人也要先受試驗，若沒有可責之處，然後叫他們作執事。
女執事（原文作女人）也是如此：必須端莊，不說讒言，有節制，凡事忠心。
執事只要作一個婦人的丈夫，好好管理兒女和自己的家。
因為善作執事的，自己就得到美好的地步，並且在基督耶穌裡的真道上大有膽量。
馬太福音 7:9

"Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
你們中間誰有兒子求餅，反給他石頭呢？
求魚，反給他蛇呢？
你們雖然不好，尚且知道拿好東西給兒女，何況你們在天上的父，豈不更把好東西給求他的人嗎？
