彼得前書 3:7 - 12

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
你們作丈夫的,也要按情理﹝原文作知識﹞和妻子同住;因他比你軟弱,(比你軟弱:原文作是軟弱的器皿)與你一同承受生命之恩的,所以要敬重他。這樣,便叫你們的禱告沒有阻礙。 總而言之,你們都要同心,彼此體恤,相愛如弟兄,存慈憐謙卑的心。 不以惡報惡,以辱罵還辱罵,倒要祝福;因你們是為此蒙召,好叫你們承受福氣。 因為經上說:人若愛生命,願享美福,須要禁止舌頭不出惡言,嘴唇不說詭詐的話; 也要離惡行善;尋求和睦,一心追趕。 因為,主的眼看顧義人;主的耳聽他們的祈禱。惟有行惡的人,主向他們變臉。

馬太福音 6:24
"No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
「一個人不能事奉兩個主;不是惡這個,愛那個,就是重這個,輕那個。你們不能又事奉神,又事奉瑪門(瑪門:財利的意思)。」

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
然而,敬虔加上知足的心便是大利了; 因為我們沒有帶什麼到世上來,也不能帶什麼去。 只要有衣有食,就當知足。 但那些想要發財的人,就陷在迷惑、落在網羅和許多無知有害的私慾裡,叫人沉在敗壞和滅亡中。 貪財是萬惡之根。有人貪戀錢財,就被引誘離了真道,用許多愁苦把自己刺透了。
