出埃及記 16:12
"I have heard the grumbling of the Israelites. Tell them, 'At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.' "

Don't grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!

Moreover, you haven't brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey or given us an inheritance of fields and vineyards. Do you want to treat these men like slaves ? No, we will not come!"
你將我們從流奶與蜜之地領上來，要在曠野殺我們，這豈為小事？你還要自立為王轄管我們嗎？
並且你沒有將我們領到流奶與蜜之地，也沒有把田地和葡萄園給我們為業。難道你要剜這些人的眼睛嗎？我們不上去！」

In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron.
The Israelites said to them, "If only we had died by the Lord's hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death."
以色列全會眾在曠野向摩西、亞倫發怨言，
說：「巴不得我們早死在埃及地、耶和華的手下；那時我們坐在肉鍋旁邊，吃得飽足。你們將我們領出來，到這曠野，是要叫這全會眾都餓死啊！」

The Israelites said to them, "If only we had died by the Lord's hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death."
說：「巴不得我們早死在埃及地、耶和華的手下；那時我們坐在肉鍋旁邊，吃得飽足。你們將我們領出來，到這曠野，是要叫這全會眾都餓死啊！」

Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people, and you have not rescued your people at all."
就向他們說：「願耶和華鑒察你們，施行判斷；因你們使我們在法老和他臣僕面前有了臭名，把刀遞在他們手中殺我們。」
摩西回到耶和華那裡，說：「主啊，你為什麼苦待這百姓呢？為什麼打發我去呢？

Now there was no water for the community, and the people gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron.
They quarreled with Moses and said, "If only we had died when our brothers fell dead before the Lord!
Why did you bring the Lord's community into this wilderness, that we and our livestock should die here?
會眾沒有水喝，就聚集攻擊摩西、亞倫。
百姓向摩西爭鬧說：「我們的弟兄曾死在耶和華面前，我們恨不得與他們同死。
你們為何把耶和華的會眾領到這曠野、使我們和牲畜都死在這裡呢？

so that you vent your rage against God and pour out such words from your mouth?

"But I tell you, in this you are not right, for God is greater than any mortal.

The next day the whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. "You have killed the Lord's people," they said.

All this came upon us, though we had not forgotten you; we had not been false to your covenant.
Our hearts had not turned back; our feet had not strayed from your path.
But you crushed us and made us a haunt for jackals; you covered us over with deep darkness.
If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread out our hands to a foreign god,
would not God have discovered it, since he knows the secrets of the heart?
Yet for your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.
Awake, Lord! Why do you sleep? Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever.
Why do you hide your face and forget our misery and oppression?
We are brought down to the dust; our bodies cling to the ground.
Rise up and help us; rescue us because of your unfailing love.
但如今你丟棄了我們，使我們受辱，不和我們的軍兵同去。
你使我們向敵人轉身退後；那恨我們的人任意搶奪。
你使我們當作快要被吃的羊，把我們分散在列邦中。
你賣了你的子民也不賺利，所得的價值並不加添你的資財。
你使我們受鄰國的羞辱，被四圍的人嗤笑譏刺。
你使我們在列邦中作了笑談，使眾民向我們搖頭。
我的凌辱終日在我面前，我臉上的羞愧將我遮蔽，
都因那辱罵毀謗人的聲音，又因仇敵和報仇人的緣故。
這都臨到我們身上，我們卻沒有忘記你，也沒有違背你的約。
我們的心沒有退後；我們的腳也沒有偏離你的路。
你在野狗之處壓傷我們，用死蔭遮蔽我們。
倘若我們忘了神的名，或向別神舉手，
神豈不鑒察這事嗎？因為他曉得人心裡的隱秘。
我們為你的緣故終日被殺；人看我們如將宰的羊。
主啊，求你睡醒，為何儘睡呢？求你興起，不要永遠丟棄我們！
你為何掩面，不顧我們所遭的苦難和所受的欺壓？
我們的性命伏於塵土；我們的肚腹緊貼地面。
求你起來幫助我們！憑你的慈愛救贖我們！
民數記 14:26
- 37
The Lord said to Moses and Aaron:
"How long will this wicked community grumble against me? I have heard the complaints of these grumbling Israelites.
So tell them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Lord, I will do to you the very thing I heard you say:
In this wilderness your bodies will fall-every one of you twenty years old or more who was counted in the census and who has grumbled against me.
Not one of you will enter the land I swore with uplifted hand to make your home, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
As for your children that you said would be taken as plunder, I will bring them in to enjoy the land you have rejected.
But as for you, your bodies will fall in this wilderness.
Your children will be shepherds here for forty years, suffering for your unfaithfulness, until the last of your bodies lies in the wilderness.
For forty years-one year for each of the forty days you explored the land-you will suffer for your sins and know what it is like to have me against you.'
I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will surely do these things to this whole wicked community, which has banded together against me. They will meet their end in this wilderness; here they will die."
So the men Moses had sent to explore the land, who returned and made the whole community grumble against him by spreading a bad report about it-
these men who were responsible for spreading the bad report about the land were struck down and died of a plague before the Lord.
耶和華對摩西、亞倫說：
「這惡會眾向我發怨言，我忍耐他們要到幾時呢？以色列人向我所發的怨言，我都聽見了。
你們告訴他們，耶和華說：『我指著我的永生起誓，我必要照你們達到我耳中的話待你們。
你們的屍首必倒在這曠野，並且你們中間凡被數點、從二十歲以外、向我發怨言的，
必不得進我起誓應許叫你們住的那地；惟有耶孚尼的兒子迦勒和嫩的兒子約書亞才能進去。
但你們的婦人孩子，就是你們所說、要被擄掠的，我必把他們領進去，他們就得知你們所厭棄的那地。
至於你們，你們的屍首必倒在這曠野；
你們的兒女必在曠野飄流四十年，擔當你們淫行的罪，直到你們的屍首在曠野消滅。
按你們窺探那地的四十日，一年頂一日，你們要擔當罪孽四十年，就知道我與你們疏遠了，
我耶和華說過，我總要這樣待這一切聚集敵我的惡會眾；他們必在這曠野消滅，在這裡死亡。』」
摩西所打發、窺探那地的人回來，報那地的惡信，叫全會眾向摩西發怨言，
這些報惡信的人都遭瘟疫，死在耶和華面前。
民數記 16:2

and rose up against Moses. With them were 250 Israelite men, well-known community leaders who had been appointed members of the council.
They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron and said to them, "You have gone too far! The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord's assembly?"
並以色列會中的二百五十個首領，就是有名望選入會中的人，在摩西面前一同起來，
聚集攻擊摩西、亞倫，說：「你們擅自專權！全會眾個個既是聖潔，耶和華也在他們中間，你們為什麼自高，超過耶和華的會眾呢？」
詩篇 78:17

But they continued to sin against him, rebelling in the wilderness against the Most High.
They willfully put God to the test by demanding the food they craved.
They spoke against God; they said, "Can God really spread a table in the wilderness?
True, he struck the rock, and water gushed out, streams flowed abundantly, but can he also give us bread? Can he supply meat for his people?"
When the Lord heard them, he was furious; his fire broke out against Jacob, and his wrath rose against Israel,
他們卻仍舊得罪他，在乾燥之地悖逆至高者。
他們心中試探神，隨自己所欲的求食物，
並且妄論神說：神在曠野豈能擺設筵席嗎？
他曾擊打磐石，使水湧出，成了江河；他還能賜糧食嗎？還能為他的百姓預備肉嗎？
所以，耶和華聽見就發怒；有烈火向雅各燒起；有怒氣向以色列上騰；
瑪拉基書 3:14
"You have said, 'It is futile to serve God. What do we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty?

But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"

Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the Lord, and when he heard them his anger was aroused. Then fire from the Lord burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.
眾百姓發怨言，他們的惡語達到耶和華的耳中。耶和華聽見了就怒氣發作，使火在他們中間焚燒，直燒到營的邊界。

You grumbled in your tents and said, "The Lord hates us; so he brought us out of Egypt to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us.
