撒母耳記上 2:30
"Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: 'I promised that members of your family would minister before me forever.' But now the Lord declares: 'Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.
因此，耶和華以色列的神說：『我曾說，你和你父家必永遠行在我面前；現在我卻說，決不容你們這樣行。因為尊重我的，我必重看他；藐視我的，他必被輕視。
撒母耳記上 2:6

"The Lord brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up.
The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts.
He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. "For the foundations of the earth are the Lord's; on them he has set the world.
He will guard the feet of his faithful servants, but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness. "It is not by strength that one prevails;
those who oppose the Lord will be broken. The Most High will thunder from heaven; the Lord will judge the ends of the earth. "He will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed."
耶和華使人死，也使人活，使人下陰間，也使人往上升。
他使人貧窮，也使人富足，使人卑微，也使人高貴。
他從灰塵裡抬舉貧寒人，從糞堆中提拔窮乏人，使他們與王子同坐，得著榮耀的座位。地的柱子屬於耶和華；他將世界立在其上。
他必保護聖民的腳步，使惡人在黑暗中寂然不動；人都不能靠力量得勝。
與耶和華爭競的，必被打碎；耶和華必從天上以雷攻擊他，必審判地極的人，將力量賜與所立的王，高舉受膏者的角。
以賽亞書 29:13
The Lord says: "These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.
主說：因為這百姓親近我，用嘴唇尊敬我，心卻遠離我；他們敬畏我，不過是領受人的吩咐。
瑪拉基書 1:6
"A son honors his father, and a slave his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?" says the Lord Almighty. "It is you priests who show contempt for my name. "But you ask, 'How have we shown contempt for your name?'
「藐視我名的祭司啊，萬軍之耶和華對你們說：兒子尊敬父親，僕人敬畏主人；我既為父親，尊敬我的在那裡呢？我既為主人，敬畏我的在那裡呢？你們卻說：『我們在何事上藐視你的名呢？』
歷代志上 28:9
"And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.
「我兒所羅門哪，你當認識耶和華你父的神，誠心樂意地事奉他；因為他鑒察眾人的心，知道一切心思意念。你若尋求他，他必使你尋見；你若離棄他，他必永遠丟棄你。
