The king said to me, "What is it you want?" Then I prayed to the God of heaven,
and I answered the king, "If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it."
Then the king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked me, "How long will your journey take, and when will you get back?" It pleased the king to send me; so I set a time.
I also said to him, "If it pleases the king, may I have letters to the governors of Trans-Euphrates, so that they will provide me safe-conduct until I arrive in Judah?
And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the royal park, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?" And because the gracious hand of my God was on me, the king granted my requests.
王問我說：「你要求什麼？」於是我默禱天上的神。
我對王說：「僕人若在王眼前蒙恩，王若喜歡，求王差遣我往猶大，到我列祖墳墓所在的那城去，我好重新建造。」
那時王后坐在王的旁邊。王問我說：「你去要多少日子？幾時回來？」我就定了日期。於是王喜歡差遣我去。
我又對王說：「王若喜歡，求王賜我詔書，通知大河西的省長准我經過，直到猶大；
又賜詔書，通知管理王園林的亞薩，使他給我木料，做屬殿營樓之門的橫梁和城牆，與我自己房屋使用的。」王就允准我，因我神施恩的手幫助我。

In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and also to put it in writing:
"This is what Cyrus king of Persia says: " 'The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah.
波斯王古列元年，耶和華為要應驗藉耶利米口所說的話，就激動波斯王古列的心，使他下詔通告全國說：
「波斯王古列如此說：『耶和華天上的神已將天下萬國賜給我，又囑咐我在猶大的耶路撒冷為他建造殿宇。

It was found recorded there that Mordecai had exposed Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's officers who guarded the doorway, who had conspired to assassinate King Xerxes.
"What honor and recognition has Mordecai received for this?" the king asked. "Nothing has been done for him," his attendants answered.
那夜王睡不著覺，就吩咐人取歷史來，念給他聽。
正遇見書上寫著說：王的太監中有兩個守門的，辟探和提列，想要下手害亞哈隨魯王，末底改將這事告訴王后。
王說：「末底改行了這事，賜他什麼尊榮爵位沒有？」伺候王的臣僕回答說：「沒有賜他什麼。」
啟示錄 17:17
For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to hand over to the beast their royal authority, until God's words are fulfilled.
因為神使諸王同心合意，遵行他的旨意，把自己的國給那獸，直等到神的話都應驗了。

After all this, when Josiah had set the temple in order, Necho king of Egypt went up to fight at Carchemish on the Euphrates, and Josiah marched out to meet him in battle.
But Necho sent messengers to him, saying, "What quarrel is there, king of Judah, between you and me? It is not you I am attacking at this time, but the house with which I am at war. God has told me to hurry; so stop opposing God, who is with me, or he will destroy you."
這事以後，約西亞修完了殿，有埃及王尼哥上來，要攻擊靠近伯拉河的迦基米施；約西亞出去抵擋他。
他差遣使者來見約西亞，說：「猶大王啊，我與你何干？我今日來不是要攻擊你，乃是要攻擊與我爭戰之家，並且神吩咐我速行，你不要干預神的事，免得他毀滅你，因為神是與我同在。」
